With only two months until the release of the new film from Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, Universal is ramping up general audience awareness for the movie Oblivion. Today, Universal has released the second trailer for what could be one of the hottest sci-fi movies of the year.

WARNING: THIS TRAILER MAY BE A BIT TOO SPOILER-Y FOR YOUR LIKING. TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION BEFORE HITTING PLAY.

It’s strange Universal didn’t debut this trailer during the Super Bowl a few weeks ago, considering that there is even a reference to the big game in it. The new trailer has a character-driven mood as we get to see what Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) has been dreaming. We also get glimpses of what his life could have been like if it wasn’t for the Great War with alien invaders that left Earth devastated.

It feels as if Universal is giving too much away in this trailer. The first trailer had a hint about the movie’s possible twist, but the new trailer almost gives it away. If you watch or read a lot of sci-fi, then you can see the clues in both trailers. Maybe these clues are a red herring and the real surprise will happen when the movie is released this April.

Set in the distant future, Oblivion unfolds in the aftermath of a ferocious war between humans and aliens. Tom Cruise plays a drone mechanic named Jack Harper, who is stationed on the abandoned ruins of Earth. When Jack rescues a beautiful and mysterious woman named Julia (Olga Kurylenko) after a crash landing, his world comes unraveled and he is confronted with the truth behind the war.

Oblivion is Joseph Kosinski’s follow-up to his debut movie, Tron: Legacy. His next feature film will be the sequel to Tron: Legacy, Tr3n, or simply, Tron 3.

Oblivion will invade IMAX theaters on April 12th and everywhere else on April 19th.
