If she sneezes, she’s boned.
A few days ago, we shared a shot of a bandanna-wearing Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), and now we’ve got a shot of Michonne (Danai Gurira) and her trademark blade. Don’t be surprised if more shots like this are released as we get closer to the Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic-Con this Friday.

We first got a glimpse of Michonne at the end of season two, when she helped Andrea escape from a pack of walkers. She played a large role in season three, but her character was surprisingly flat and one-note. Like much of the TV series, Michonne was done much better in the comics. Hopefully The Walking Dead‘s fourth season will give her character a bit more depth.

According to Robert Kirkman, the series’ creator and an executive producer on the show, season four of The Walking Dead will be more character driven than previous seasons of the extremely popular TV series.

As for Michonne, Robert Kirkman teased her storyline for the upcoming fourth season. After the loss of Andrea at the end of season three, Michonne becomes obsessed with trying to find the Governor and make him pay. Kirkman tells The Hollywood Reporter that the hunt for the Governor will be Michonne’s driving force for a good portion of season four. Kirkman says:

Michonne (Danai Gurira) in particular is going to have quite a bit going on with her because of that [Andrea] loss. As we meet Michonne coming back this season, she’s on a mission to hunt down the Governor. It’s something she’s very obsessed with. It’s big part of her character this season. She did lose Andrea and she lost her because of the Governor. She’s not willing to let that guy go or be out there. It’s something that may possibly be to her detriment, the fact that she’s so dedicated to finding this person. That’s something that very much informs her character this season.

The season four premiere episode is titled “30 Days Without an Accident.” Considering this is The Walking Dead, you can bet that number will drop back to zero sooner rather than later.

The Walking Dead panel for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con will take place on Friday, July 19 in Hall H. The panel will feature cast and producers of the AMC zombie TV series, including Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, Chad Coleman, Scott Wilson, executive producer/new showrunner Scott Gimple, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer Robert Kirkman, executive producer David Alpert, and executive producer and special effects make-up supervisor Greg Nicotero. The Talking Dead’s Chris Hardwick will moderate the panel.

The Walking Dead will return with 16 new episodes for season four this October on AMC.
