Michael BayWhile Michael Bay movies are generally known for their chaos and carnage, actually shooting his films has been relatively safe for the production’s cast and crew. That is until someone tried to attack the 48-year-old action director while he was filming Transformers: Age of Extinction in Hong Kong.

According to Variety, a man allegedly under the influence of narcotics stormed on to the production’s closed location in Hong Kong and swung an air-conditioning unit at Michael Bay’s head. Yes, someone tried to assault Michael Bay while he was making a Transformers movie. Bay was not injured in any way, but he “ducked and wrestled the air conditioner from his attacker, preventing what could have been a serious accident.” Expect Michael Bay’s next movie after Age of Extinction to star himself as a kickass new superhero.

Paramount Pictures stated that, after Bay subdued the man, police scuffled with the attacker as well as two other suspects before arresting all three men. No cast or crew (or Transformers) were injured in the attack.

Why anyone would want to attack Michael Bay is beyond me. I know he’s made some terrible movies, but attacking the director with an air-conditioning unit is not the way to go about your life. It also seems that Bay’s reputation of being a type-A, bro film director is pretty accurate if he’s taking down people who attack him with air conditioners while he’s shooting a movie. C’mon, that’s pretty badass!

Aside from today’s violent incident, the Age of Extinction production has been somewhat quiet. A few weeks ago, Paramount released the first official image of the human cast of the fourth installment in the Transformers film series. Prior to that, Paramount had only released images of the Autobots and Decepticons featured in the upcoming movie. We also got a new list of the name of the film’s characters to go along with the new pic.

Although there are no plot details available yet, it is believed that it may feature fan-favorite villain Unicron and the possible return of Megatron. Transformer sub-group the Dinobots will be included in the new movie, but it’s unclear how they will play into the film’s main plot.

Leaked video from the film’s Chicago shooting locations suggests that Transformers 4 will show a greater opposition between humans and the remaining Transformers left on Earth after the attacks depicted in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Hopefully, we’ll get some new info on the film once its first teaser trailer comes out, which is rumored to be attached to screenings of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit this Christmas.

Transformers: Age of Extinction, which Michael Bay describes as a “chase from hell,” features actors Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Brenton Thwaites, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, T.J. Miller, Victoria Summer, and Kelsey Grammer as CIA Agent Harold Attinger.

Transformers: Age of Extinction will hit theaters everywhere on June 27, 2014, in 3D and IMAX.
