Lego Star Wars Invades France In These Incredible Photos

Star Wars Lego InvasionFrance is apparently dealing with an invading force of outside aggressors. And this is one conflict that you’re definitely not going to hear about on your local nightly news (probably not anyway), because the enemy is, while a well known nefarious force of evil, also small, made of plastic, and entirely fictional. This invasion is comprised solely of Star Wars Lego pieces, but the pictures that document this incursion are nothing short of spectacular.

Photographer Benoit Lapray, working in conjunction with Lego France, is responsible for staging and delivering this fantastic set of pictures, which he has called “Toys Invasion.” The images show the Galactic Empire taking over an area in Lyon, France. And considering that the Imperial forces, like stormtroopers and Boba Fett are going on about their daily business like it ain’t no thing, you have to assume that their invasion has been a pretty damn successful endeavor thus far.

Okay, there is some heavy artillery strategically placed around the neighborhood, and they definitely appear to be chasing after folks like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. And there’s that image of the downed Millennium Falcon, which is by far the best of the bunch (and in a group of such incredible pictures, being the best definitely says something big). So this hasn’t been an entirely peaceful affair, there’s definitely some rebel activity to contend with (historically, France is big on underground resistance when it comes to invading armies), and the conflict is ongoing.

But still, when you can do normal things like go to the mall with your friends, park your speeder in the designated spaces, and even do a little bit of window shopping in the process, you’re at least not in an constant state of high alert. You may be wary—locals probably don’t like you all that much, as is usually the case with an occupying force—but you don’t necessarily need to wander the streets with your weapon at the ready. It’s probably a good idea to be equipped for the worst, but you might not always need to rely on your preparations.
