The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is one of the most anticipated movies of 2013 . The sequel to the extremely profitable first film will see our heroes, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), facing off against new obstacles, new pitfalls, and new Tributes, namely fan-favorite Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) from District 4. Now we’ve got the first official look at Catching Fire as Katniss Everdeen and Finnick Odair grace the cover of the latest Entertainment Weekly.

As part of EW’s 2013 Movie Preview issue, this first look at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will surely feed the frenzy of fans of the series. Katniss and Finnick are featured in the grey-and-black wetsuits that are part of the underwater Third Quarter Quell, or 75th Hunger Games. A few months ago, Hawaii location photos leaked, showing the tributes in a glorious underwater brawl. Another image from Catching Fire features Finnick and Katniss getting closer to each other.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire isn’t due in theaters for another 11 months, so it’s a bit early to fuel the fire for this young adult series. The sequel will be more action-heavy as Katniss and Peeta go back on the road in a Victory Tour after winning the 74th Hunger Games. The other Districts of Panem get ready for the 75th Hunger Games, which features past winners in a winner-take-all death match.

With Francis Lawrence as the film series’ new director and new additions to the already all-star cast, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire promises to be an even bigger success than the first film.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will hit theaters everywhere on November 22nd in IMAX.

I have no doubts that this sequel will top the popularity of
the first flick. I’ve already heard tons of buzz about it around my office at
DISH, which makes me feel incredibly out of the loop. Can you believe that I’ve
never even seen the first flick? I’m sure you think I’ve lived in outer space
for the past couple years or something, but the truth is that I’m usually too
busy to think about going to a video store to rent and return a movie. Luckily,
I don’t have to worry about all that hassle anymore now that I’ve subscribed to
the Blockbuster @Home service through DISH. The movies get sent straight to my
mailbox and I don’t have to fret about returning them quickly! It goes without saying
now that I definitely plan to rent the Hunger Games ASAP!

I hope the second film is better than the tripe served up as the first book. Most films don’t live up to the book but the Hunger Games was dreadful. Turned a fairly dark view of the future into a soppy teenage romp
