Jurassic WorldThose of you who watch NBC’s Parks and Recreation should be readily familiar with Chris Pratt. He’s plays lovable, but dim-witted wannabe rock star Andy Dwyer. From that role it’s hard to imagine that he’s about to become a legitimate leading man in Hollywood. Later this summer he will appear as the protagonist in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, he’s set to play one of the leads in a Knight Rider reboot, and next summer he heads up Jurassic World, director Colin Trevorrow’s return to the fan favorite Jurassic Park franchise. If you have a hard time imagining Pratt as movie star, taking a look at these new Jurassic World pictures might just convince you otherwise.

Even in smaller roles in more serious films like Her, Moneyball, and Zero Dark Thirty, Pratt, though he has definite charisma, always brings a layer of humor and goofiness. While we’re looking forward to seeing that, especially in Guardians, it’s going to be interesting to see how that translates to bigger roles. But looking at him sitting astride that motorcycle, he definitely looks the part of a big time movie star. Given what we know of his personality, however, it’s easy to imagine that he cracked a joke immediately after striking this pose.

We know that Jurassic World takes place back on Isla Nublar, where John Hammond’s (Richard Attenborough) vision of a dinosaur filled theme park has finally become a reality, after many disastrous attempts. According to news that has leaked out, and since been confirmed by Trevorrow, Pratt’s character, Owen, a kind of dinosaur trainer at the new resort.

Jurassic WorldEarlier photos showed us Pratt’s co-star Bryce Dallas Howard and dressed all in white as she was, many people assumed that she plays some kind of scientist. This picture shows a similar fashion sense, but the outfit looks less scientific and much swankier. From this image, you have to wonder if she has something to do with running the park from a money perspective. We know Vincent D’Onofrio is slated to play the main villain, and that the people who run the park create a new breed of dinosaur by combining T-Rex and Raptor DNA with that of a snake and cuttlefish. Perhaps she has something to do with this, that smart pantsuit definitely screams, “I mean business.” There’s also bound to be a romantic thread, so maybe she’s one of the wealthy folks and goes slumming with the hired help who wrangles dinosaurs for a living. There’s of course more to him than just that, Owen is also a researcher “trying to figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings.”

Jurassic WorldLike its predecessors, Jurassic World will definitely feature some kids in peril. This time around Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer) and Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3) play the younger generation, and being the precocious whippersnappers that they are, you can rest assured that they will find themselves in some precarious positions. Whatever is going on in this picture, or at least whatever they’re gawking at off screen, it doesn’t look entirely safe.

Jurassic World also stars Judy Greer, Irrfan Khan, BD Wong, and Jake Johnson, and opens everywhere June 12, 2015.
