Is Josh Hutcherson The New Spider-Man? Does Anyone Care?
Teen actor Josh Hutcherson has long been on Sony’s list as one of the candidates to take over the role of Peter Parker for their mostly unwanted Spider-Man reboot. Now it looks like he may have the job.
Blue Sky Disney claims he has the job. An offer has been made, he has accepted, and that’s that. At least according to them.
Sony has yet to make an official announcement, and until they do, this remains a rumor.
It seems somewhat pointless to care whether Hutcherson is right for the part when everyone seems to agree that the part shouldn’t even exist. It’s far too soon to begin rebooting Spider-Man, doing so is kind of a slap in the face to everyone who laid down money for the previous incarnation which is still fresh from the theaters.
Sony seems desperate to turn this into Twilight and plans to send Peter back to high school for more angsty, teen whining. Maybe Hutcherson will be good, maybe he’ll be bad. Who cares. This will always be a horrible idea no matter what he or anyone else does.
