James Gunn Shares A Ton Of Behind-The-Scenes Guardians Of The Galaxy Pics

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has been active on social media since before he even landed the Guardians job, and it’s been really cool following that production via his Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts. You never know what he’s going to offer up on any given day, but he’s been on a roll lately on Instagram, sharing a ton of behind-the-scenes images from Guardians. Earlier this week we reported on an Easter egg no one had spotted yet, but that’s just the tip of the Instagram iceberg. You can see some of the highlights from the ongoing barrage of awesome below, along with Gunn’s captions to provide context.

#gotgpicoftheday I need that guy's eye! Bruce Mackinnon as the One-Eyed Ravager, prosthetic makeup by David White. Initially they kept bringing me designs of prosthetic eyes that were too sleek. "No, this dude needs a real shit eye. He bought it from some illegal bargain basement doctor set up in a shaky shack on the side of an asteroid. He probably sees, like, grainy 2D cartoons out of it." Finally they brought me this, the most terrible mechanical eye ever. The tiny little "sight tube" and its jerky movements were CGI'd on afterwards. As usual, I love to mix practical and CGI effects. #gotg #guardiansofthegalaxy

#gotgpicoftheday Chris Fairbank as the Broker. Chris was one of my favorite actors to work with. A true British master, he brought heart and humanity to a role that could have otherwise been played as a one-note snob. Like many of the characters in #GuardiansoftheGalaxy, the Broker is a lot more than what he at first seems to be. #GotG

Woke up to hundreds of messages here on Facebook, on Twitter and Instagram from folks who had watched #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy on digital last night (it's now on iTunes, Vudu, XBox, Playstation, Verizon, Google Play, CInema Now, and Target Ticket). It's a joy to hear from those seeing the movie for the first time and a joy to hear from those folks discovering the fun of multiple viewings. I really did try to design the movie so there were pleasures to be found in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th viewings, and beyond!
