Insterstellar’s TARS Should Be In Every Movie, These Posters Are Proof

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is divisive as all hell, somehow managing to be both a good movie and a terrible movie, often simultaneously. Then again, maybe that’s only appropriate for a film about multiple dimensions. But while we could argue all day about the movie’s script, performances, direction, or sound issues, there’s one thing I imagine most of us would agree on: the robotic TARS is pretty damn great. He looks like the Monolith from 2001, but as the film progresses he reveals himself to be a freaking Swiss Army Knife of usefulness, not to mention having the most marvelously dry sense of humor this side of Marvin the Paranoid Android. Frankly, I would watch a spinoff that was just the adventures of TARS, and these fake posters are going a long way toward convincing me that TARS should just be in every damn movie.

The posters are the work of the cheeky bastards over at Vulture, who have combined a love of TARS with basic Photoshop mastery and an admirable dedication to pun-upmanship. I like that they avoid the obvious choices — TARS Wars, TARS Trek — and go for the deeper cuts. Frankly, I’m considering launching a Kickstarter right now just to convince somebody to make TARS and the Real Girl. We won’t even change the script, Ryan Gosling will just be replaced with a blocky robot and no one will ever address it.

I feel like they’re only scratching the surface. The Last TARSfighter. The TARS Chamber. Fist of the North TARS. I could do this all day. And I literally might. But instead I’ll just invite you guys to barrage the comments with your own TARS-ified titles. Have at it!
