Movie trailers are supposed to “sell” you on a movie to bring you back to the theater. They have to show an audience why they should spend their hard earned money on the movie instead of cheeseburgers of snuggies or whatever. For the most part, movie trailers can be a little misleading. What happens if a movie trailer tells you exactly what you’re going to get in the movie? The latest entry in the Honest Trailers web series does exactly that, but now the people at Screen Junkies are taking on The Hunger Games. Check out their new Honest Trailer…

This series of trailers is always good for a laugh. It’s refreshing to see something clever as it pokes holes in widely popular movies. Why do the rich in The Hunger Games dress like second rate Lady Gagas in cities leftover from The Phantom Menace? But for all the pitfalls this trailer points out, the movie still works as a good piece of Hollywood entertainment, even if it doesn’t stay fully faithful to the source material. Admittedly, The Hunger Games is still kind of a rip-off of Battle Royale.

The Honest Trailers series from Screen Junkies has so far poked fun of movies including Titanic, Star Wars, and Avatar. At the end of every video, Screen Junkies asks their viewers which movie they should target for their next entry of Honest Trailers. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before they do one for Prometheus.
