See Hugh Jackman Teaching Robots To Box In Real Steel
Hugh Jackman’s next movie has him playing a boxing trainer in a future where all the boxing is done by giant, eight-foot tall robots. Yeah it sounds a lot like Rock em’ Sock em’ Robots but it’s actually called Real Steel.
We have the first ever image from the film and here it is after the jump:
It’s worth noting that the robot you see in the image with Hugh is not a special effect. Real Steel director Sean Levy has opted to use actual robots rather than CGI, and to that end they built 19 of these things to do battle in the ring. Motion capture effects will be used when they punch each other to handle battle damage, but still, the robots are real, and that makes this whole thing suddenly a lot cooler.
