BBC’s Doctor Who Christmas special has become almost as big a holiday tradition as the holiday itself. Okay, that was a bit of exaggeration  but there’s still a shard of truth to that statement. The specials are a rather popular part of the long-running franchise, and fans look forward to them each and every year. This season’s is especially noteworthy as it will properly introduce the eleventh Doctor’s (Matt Smith) latest companion, Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman). To further hype the episode, BBC has let fly with this massive gallery of pictures from the episode.

Most of these are stills from the special itself, and prominently feature both the Time Lord and the lovely Clara. There are, however, all manner of other promos, posed publicity shots, and manufactured poster-looking bits to flip through. There’s certainly something to sate just about everyone.

Titled “The Snowmen,” the holiday special will air, you guessed it, on Christmas Day. The action takes place in Victorian London, where the town has apparently come under attack from a gang of evil snowmen. Imagine that. Despite the fact that the good Doctor is still reeling from losing his most recent companions, Rory and Amy Pond, the special is, from all reports, heavy on the comedy.

Out of all of these pictures, perhaps the most interesting is this one, showing our first glimpse of a new look for the Doctor’s TARDIS. Apparently the space- and time-travelling vehicle is getting another makeover, with the results to be unveiled in “The Snowmen.” Take a look and judge for yourself. What do you think of the new look for the Time Lord’s new ride?
