Following the announcement of new Star Wars films, everyone who has ever had anything to do with George Lucas’ space opera franchise has been asked for their feelings on the matter. Down the line, nearly everyone asked is game to jump back on board that ship for another go-round in a galaxy far, far away. The latest to chime in on the subject is Jedi Master Mace Windu himself, Samuel L. Jackson.

Asked by E! Online whether or not he’d return for Episode VII, Jackson replied, “Hell yeah.” How’s that for enthusiasm?

But wait, you may be inclined to ask, “Didn’t Mace Windu die at the hands of Palpatine and Anakin?” That’s definitely the impression given in Revenge of the Sith, as he is blasted out the window by the future Emperor’s lightning hands. Never fear, Jackson has a way to work around this pesky little detail.

It’s like, okay, Obi-Wan was dead when episode four started, so maybe everyone thinks I’m dead and we’ll find out what happened to Mace Windu. I can come back as one-armed or a one-handed Jedi that’s still around that didn’t actually die.

He makes a valid point: we never see the corpse, and in movie terms, that always leaves the door open for a possible return. And that would be pretty damn rad — Samuel L. Jackson, whooping ass with one arm, or maybe a sweet prosthetic. Hell, if Luke Skywalker can construct a robo-hand that functions so well you’d never know the difference, why can’t Mace Windu show up with a mechanical arm? After all, Episode VII will be set after Return of the Jedi, so it stands to reason that technology will be even more advanced by this point.

What do you think? Would you like to see Jackson running around the next Star Wars film? Even as a ghost or a memory?
