AscensionHard Science Fiction Returning to TV
If you’ve been paying attention, and I know a lot of you have, you’re well aware that we’re about to get a massive tidal wave of potentially badass sci-fi programming. Syfy is adapting John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War, Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End, and James S.A. Corey’s The Expanse, along with original projects like Ascension and like a dozen more across a wide range of subsets. HBO is getting in on the action too, ordering up a revamped Westworld with an incredible cast, and with Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams working in various capacities behind the camera. They’re also developing Isaac Asimov’s Foundation into a continuing series. As much as I love movies, there’s something about being able to tune in week after week and watch a story unfold and characters develop. And the fact that you can watch from the comfort of your own home, without having to put on pants, makes me even more thankful. – Brent
