Are you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy yet? Odds are, if you’re a regular visitor to the shores here at GFR Island, you pretty pumped up for this one. But just in case you aren’t already frothing at the mouth for this sarcastic deep space adventure, Marvel is going to absolutely bury you up to your neck in promotion before the film opens on August 1. Don’t believe me? Well here are four, yes four, new TV spots for the latest offering from the comic book giant. I get that this isn’t one of their better known properties and that they’re doing their best to familiarize general audiences with the characters and premise, but damn, this is getting silly.

The first extended spot focuses on Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, leader of a mismatched gang of intergalactic outlaws that includes Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel). Also know as Peter Jason Quill, this gives you a little bit of background, including that he is from Earth, though he left, or was taken away, at a very young age. You also learn about his penchant for cassette tapes and sweet rocking jams.

But more than any of the details, you get to see what kind of person Star-Lord is underneath. When Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) starts destroying everything—the main conflict of the film as we currently understand it—you see that though Quill may be sarcastic, he’s also principled and willing to stand and fight so that evil doesn’t win the day.

The second TV spot plays out like a condensed version of the first. It doesn’t deliver much in the way of new material, but it is full of the action and humor that we’re so looking forward to. On its own it’s still a lot of fun.

This longer spot pays the most attention to Gamora and Drax, digging into their individual histories, especially with an eye on why they both might be interested in going head to head with Ronan and the Kree Empire. As it turns out, they each have very personal, family-related motivations for wanting to stop him, and, in reality given their pasts and temperament, kill the living hell out of him if they come across the opportunity. This video also indicates that Drax may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, or at least takes things very, very literally. How can you not love that bit with the knife?

This last one is the quickest hit of the bunch, clocking in at less than 15 seconds. The primary focus is action and humor that comes across in the other footage, but that “trouble is coming to save us” tagline is priceless and feels like yet another spot on addition to the film. Given the sheer amount of promotion Marvel has churned out for Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s impressive that it hasn’t started to feel stale.
