Guardians of the GalaxyMarvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy adaptation quickly went from being a strange choice for the comic book giant’s next attempt at cinematic world domination, to a movie we absolutely can’t wait to see. An epic space opera with an anthropomorphized raccoon and alien tree, what’s not to be excited about? The more we learn, the better it sounds. We recently got our first glimpses at some of the toy tie-ins for the film, which also provided our initial peeks at some characters and spacecrafts. Because the Internet is a magical place, now there are even more photos that offer even more looks at even more more pieces of the bit picture.

This latest batch of photos comes from Screen Crush, and contributor Nick Romano snapped the pics. Hasbro debuted their upcoming toy offerings at the American International Toy Fair, and the images show everything from action figures, to costumes, to promotional art for the movie.

Guardians follows Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), the leader of an intergalactic band of outlaw misfits who wind up having to save the universe from evil forces. The rest of his cadre includes Gamora (Zoe Saldana), a badass green alien warrior; massive blue Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista); Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), an eight foot tall alien tree who only says, “I am Groot”; and Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), a ring-tailed bandit with a penchant for heavy arms.

These photos give you a decent look at most of the key characters, both in plastic figurine form as well as in the guise of tall cardboard cutouts and costumes. You also get to see three of the different spaceships from the film. There’s the Milano, which is Star-Lord’s primary ride, the Nova Corps Starblaster, and finally Rocket’s space hot rod, the Warbird. They look even better than the LEGO version.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug star Lee Pace plays the main villain in Guardians, Ronan the Accuser, who is totally blue and has some sweet silver armor. This is a much better view than the LEGO version. There are other bad guys, too, including Korath (Djimon Hounsou), and the Sakaaran Troopers, who seem like they’re going to be this movie’s version of Storm Troopers. Benicio del Toro shows up as the Collector, but he’s not anywhere to be seen here.

Guardians of the Galaxy also features Karen Gillan, John C. Reilly, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, and Glenn Close, and opens everywhere August 1.

We recently laid eyes on some test footage of Rocket Raccoon and Groot, but supposedly we’re going to get the first trailer sometime this week. We can hardly wait, we’re tenting our fingers in anticipation.
