It seems that the best ways to get a first look at an upcoming movie are to look at its toy line and Halloween costumes. Earlier this week a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Halloween costume possibly revealed that film’s new character designs, and now a similar thing has happened with costumes for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

As reported on Comic Book Movie, Halloween costumes for Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Gamora have surfaced online through the costume website Disguise.com. According to the website, additional costumes for Drax the Destroyer and the tree-like alien Groot are coming soon. There’s no word on if we’ll see costumes for the movie’s villains, the Collector, Ronan the Accuser, and Nebula. But who wants to go as a villain for Halloween anyway?

The costumes are pretty cool, and if I were still a kid, I’d go as Star-Lord for Halloween. The kid’s costume comes with a plastic version of the leader’s Element Gun, which is a pistol capable of conjuring the four elements. I wonder if the other costumes will come with its character’s weapons — Gamora’s knives and swords, or Rocket Raccoon’s arsenal.

Meanwhile, anyone hoping to see the first Guardians trailer during Super Bowl XLVIII will be disappointed. Director James Gunn turned to Twitter to tell his fans that Marvel will not premiere any Guardians footage during the Big Game next Sunday. Instead, he hinted only that something awesome is coming soon.

If Marvel bought some airtime during the Super Bowl, it’s likely they would feature Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which opens on April 4, instead of Guardians of the Galaxy. Cap’s next movie comes out first, and audiences are already familiar with Captain America after the success of the first film and The Avengers. It’s also rumored that Marvel will screen 15 minutes of Guardians footage before The Winter Soldier this April. They did the same thing for the next Captain America sequel before some showings of Thor: The Dark World last November.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows Peter Quill, a half-human/half-alien who is the target of a manhunt after he steals a mysterious orb, believed to be one of the Infinity Gems, from Ronan the Accuser. In order to escape, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a group of cosmic misfits that includes Rocket, Gamora, Groot, and Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill learns of the orb’s true power, he must rally his new team to save the galaxy from a mysterious new threat.

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Michael Rooker, Olivia Lovibond, John C. Reilly, and Glenn Close, and hits theaters everywhere on August 1. Check out Halloween costumes for Captain America: The Winter Soldier below:
