Giant Freakin Robot

Thanks to our team on the ground at San Diego’s Comic Con, we have your first ever look at the alien Abin Sur, as he’ll appear in Green Lantern. Who is he? In Lantern lore Abin Sur is a member of the Green Lantern Corps who crashes on Earth. Before he dies, he uses his ring to search for his successor and the ring chooses Hal Jordan, to be played by Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming WB film. Here’s Abin, presumably some after he’s mostly dead.

He doesn’t seem to be in the best of shape, but remember this is after a crash and after he may have even been in the hands of that dastardly villain Hector Hammond, as revealed in this photo from EW last wee:
