My God, It’s Full of Stars: BBC Doing A Series On Science Fiction

science fiction!!Are you a fan of science fiction? Of course you are! You read Giant Freakin’ Robot. BBC America and BBC 2 share your enthusiasm for the genre because they produced and will air a special four-part documentary series examining the science fiction genre as a whole.

The name of the new series is My God, It’s Full of Stars: A Journey to the Edge of Science Fiction, which is apparently a working title as BBC America is trying to find something more snappy and concise. The four-part series will examine a different themes in science fiction in each episode. The hour-long episodes will dive deep in science fiction’s sub-genres such as time travel, the exploration of space, aliens and robots, and finally, artificial intelligence.

The new series will also feature notable science fiction filmmakers, writers, actors, authors, and graphic artists, and will center on their personal experiences with the genre. They will also discuss the genre’s past, present, and future in cinema, pop culture, and literature. In a press release, BBC America described the new science fiction series as:

“This is the story of science fiction told by the men and women who fell to Earth. From H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds to The Terminator, from Doctor Who to Star Wars this series will guide viewers through a rich, thought-provoking and endlessly exciting genre.”

The four-part documentary series will air as part of BBC America’s Supernatural Saturday programming along with Doctor Who, Orphan Black, and Chris Hardwick’s The Nerdist. BBC America has yet to announce when My God, It’s Full of Stars: A Journey to the Edge of Science Fiction will air on their network.

This new series feels like it’s for anyone who is passionate about the science fiction genre in any shape or form. I know I will be tuning in to BBC America whenever this series airs and I hope you will be too.
