Farscape: Everything You Need To Know About The Comics Before The Movie

DekeJohn and Aeryn’s Son Has Superpowers
Of all the items on this list, this one will likely have the biggest effect on the story of the upcoming Farscape movie. The strange powers exhibited by young D’Argo “Deke” Sun-Crichton were a major plot point throughout the comics, with the infant showing the ability to distort time. At one point he even shunted Crichton into an “unrealized reality” where Aeryn was still a loyal Peacekeeper and where Crichton and Aeryn had never met.

Those bizarre events eventually sent Aeryn off on a quest to try and determine the origin of Deke’s powers, at first speculating that they could be the result of her exposure to some toxin or other danger during her years as a Peacekeeper. In the end, Deke’s mutation and the resulting powers were linked to Aeryn’s genetics, not John’s, but they remain largely a mystery, and the full extent of them probably still isn’t known. That mystery makes for a perfect jumping-off point for the new Farscape movie, which will have Crichton, Aeryn, and Deke forced back into galactic events when “villainous aliens” track the family to Earth. John and Aeryn may have vowed that their son would be raised in peace, but it seems the men of the Crichton family are doomed to always possess something others will kill for.

Seriously this is getting a feature film? I’m sorry and I know it’s got a cult fanbase but so many other cancelled shows should get a film. For starters Stargate Universe while not a favourite for most it’s worth giving us an ending for closure, or Quantum Leap, or hell Im not gonna name them all but oh and Dark skies would love that to be remade or continued. Anyway my point is and yes I’m a fan of the show but really there are so many other shows that could have gotten this film over Farscape.

You’re acting like some exec had a list of shows to green light a movie for and he picked your least favorite. Something a lot of people like, including you apparently, is getting a movie and you feel the need to complain that it wasn’t the highest one on your personal list?

Farscape was better than everything you listed. By a lot.

I love Quantum Leap, I even like Stargate Universe and wish they hadn’t cancelled it, but seriously, Farscape is one of the best shows in the history of television. It really is. And it never really got its due. A smart studio exec might see unmined potential in that.
