Epic New Poster For Jurassic Park’s 3D Return

Most people around my age remember sitting in a theater sometime in junior high or high school and having our squirmy, adolescent minds blown watching Jurassic Park. It’s hard to believe that was 20 years ago, and it certainly doesn’t feel like two decades have passed. Even with all the advancements in GGI and technology, the creature effects in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Michael Crichton’s bestselling novel still hold up remarkably well. Every giant monster movie that’s followed is still measured against Jurassic Park.
In honor of this milestone (not to mention being one year away from the legal drinking age), Jurassic Park will get another run in theaters, this time in 3D. While not a huge fan of post-conversion 3D, the chance to see this film on the big screen again is an exciting prospect. It’s going to destroy. The film will hit theaters on April 5, 2013, and a new trailer is slated for release tomorrow. For the moment, however, we’ll have to content ourselves with this new poster.
They could have phoned this in like so many rereleases, but Universal Pictures actually went out and delivered a pretty damn cool poster. The gates, the flames, and the overall motif are an obvious nod to King Kong, and this captures the massive feel of the film, and the ominous sensation of walking headlong into something sweeping and epic.
God, I can’t wait to see T-Rex eat that shady lawyer off the toilet in 3D. That’s going to be rad.
