This weekend fans were treated to a kick-ass new Star Trek Into Darkness trailer. You should watch it if you haven’t, because it’s a damn good time, and if you weren’t already excited, the action-heavy video will kick your adrenal glands up a notch or two.

You can tell they’ve been busy over at the Paramount marketing department, because hot on the heels of the new trailer comes a brand-spanking-new poster. Check it out:

The image of the U.S.S. Enterprise rising out of the ocean has been prominently featured in most of the Into Darkness teasers and trailers we’ve seen so far. You have to admit, it is a striking visual, and I’m excited to see that in full IMAX presentation.

Granted, there has been some serious back-and-forth about the scientific accuracy of a ship the size of the Enterprise being submerged like that. Apparently there are some scientific issues involved that I don’t really understand, but then again, I don’t really care. What I really care about is how awesome this is going to look projected four stories tall. That’s going to be awesome.

In the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek Into Darkness, the Enterprise and her crew is called back home to find an internal threat in Starfleet wreaking havoc on Earth. Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), on a personal vendetta, leads his crackerjack team into a warzone after a one-man killing machine. What they encounter will test the bonds of their friendship and sense of duty, and will put all their lives in jeopardy.

Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 17, 2013, and also stars Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Peter Weller.
