Christmas is coming early for Star Trek fans! With only five months until the release of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness; expect to see a heavy flow of promotional materials from Paramount Pictures featuring the crew of the Starship Enterprise. In a recent explosion, British magazine Empire has released over a dozen images from Star Trek Into Darkness including two new covers featuring Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk and Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison. Check out a plethora of Star Trek Into Darkness images below…

It feels like we’ve already seen some of these images from Empire Magazine. They seem to be expanded images from the Star Trek Into Darkness’ trailer or from the film’s first nine minutes including Spock inside of a volcano and John Harrison crashing through a glass wall. But overall, these images are pretty exciting. One notable image features Uhura looking completely badass with a phaser gun.

Last week, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot released the first American teaser trailer that has been perplexing Star Trek fans who were trying to figure out the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain character. The trailer was a good compliment to the International Japanese trailer that gave audiences a more emotional approach to Star Trek Into Darkness. The first nine minutes of the film revealed a small character moment from Cumberbatch’s John Harrison and the high action that is the signature of J.J. Abrams.

There is still not much known about the film’s premise. But it seems as if the Starship Enterprise crew’s limits will be tested as an unknown threat from within Starfleet’s ranks. Captain Kirk must try to stop the supernatural powers of John Harrison and try to keep his crew and ship together.

Star Trek Into Darkness will open in theaters everywhere on May 17th 2013 in IMAX 3D.
