As it turns out, all of the recent casting news surrounding CBS’ upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s massive Under the Dome wasn’t just a hallucination I had in the lonely days after that above-ground pool flipped over on top of me. One tends to get wary when the largest of King’s novels are on their way to filming.

How do I know that Under the Dome exists? Because Stephen King fansite Lilja’s Library recently posted the very first on-set image from the show, which began production Thursday in Wilmington, N.C. Even though it doesn’t show any woodchucks being cut in half, or any of the show’s stars, or even a dome, it is at least of a place familiar to the novel’s fans: Big Jim’s Used Cars. Big Jim Rennie, played by Breaking Bad‘s Dean Norris, is the central protagonist in the book; he owns the car lot as well as being the town of Chester Mill’s second selectman. If the show retains even a fraction of Big Jim’s heinousness from the novel, Norris is going to make my blood boil anytime he’s on camera. Check out the picture below, and for the full effect, imagine yourself looking at it as if you were in fact standing beneath a dome.
