Dog Vs. Child Lightsaber Battle

Now this is a good dog. Don’t we all wish our loyal canine companions would occasionally engage us in a spirited lightsaber battle? That’s the dream anyway. Check out this video below.

Helpful parenting hint from someone that has worked with dogs every day for the better part of 10 years. Don’t let your child learn that it is okay to run after dogs, back them into a corner, and whack them with a stick. I will consider this a personal favor.

Sure, in this case things turned out okay. Nothing bad happened, and you got an adorable little internet video out of the deal. That’s not going to happen every time and with every dog. I watched this video in horror, waiting for the dog to snap, reasonably so, and bite that child in the face. That’s really the end result of this if this continues. Especially when the dog was forced into the space between the futon and the wall. Cornering an animal and hitting it is generally going to trigger a fight-or-flight response.

So again, geeks with kids, please discourage this type of behavior in your youngsters. We’d all rather not see them get bit. And I would rather not see a bunch of dogs get impounded, or worse, put down, because people think kids and dogs playing with lightsabers is cute.

I’m having a serious internal debate about whether or not to repost this video. But what the hell, I’m going to do it anyway. I’m sure most of you out there aren’t going to watch this and then immediately teach toddlers to smack dogs with a toy.
