While still relative newcomers to the Doctor Who canon, the Weeping Angels are one of the most popular – and most terrifying – creations ever to come out of the long-running British series. The malicious living statues are set to return in an upcoming episode that takes place in New York City, and now a batshit-insane rumor suggests that the Angels are bringing some major-league backup. Warning: if true, this is a huge spoiler about a major plot twist, so if you want to remain blissfully ignorant, now’s the time to click away.

Don’t blink…and don’t scroll down past the Weeping Angel if you don’t want to be spoiled!

Doctor Who’s Weeping Angels only move when you aren’t looking at them.

Still with me? Alright, you were warned…

A new report in the Daily Star suggests that The Doctor, Amy Pond, and Rory won’t just be battling an army of Weeping Angels…they’ll be up against a three-hundred-foot-tall version when it is revealed that the Statue of Liberty is itself a gigantic Weeping Angel. Sounds too crazy to be true? I actually think it’s so crazy it’s got to be true, and it’s the sort of plot twist that would leave Who fans chattering about it for years. Hey, at least it’ll be pretty easy to keep the old girl within eyesight…

The Weeping Angel episode is also purported to be the final episode for Amy and Rory, and it doesn’t sound like their departure will be a happy one. The Star story says that the Doctor’s latest companions will “bow out in tragic circumstances.” This tracks with comments by Steven Moffat, who has said that not everyone will get out of the episode alive.

Will Amy and Rory wind up squished beneath the heel of Lady Liberty? Where are the Ghostbusters and some of that pink mood slime when you really need them?
