One of the cooler bits of the ongoing Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebrations are the monthly Who short stories/ebooks focusing on each of the Doctor’s incarnations. They began with Eoin Colfer’s “A Big Hand for the Doctor.” Well, while we’ve been busy writing zillions of Star Wars: Episode VII stories, those cheeky bastards have gone and released three more of the damn things. So silver lining: a veritable Who-splosion of content!

First up, we have February’s entry, “The Nameless City,” by author Michael Scott, best known for his The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series. “City” has the Second Doctor encountering a mysterious book that transports the TARDIS to a glass city on a distant world, and pits the Doctor against Archons with revenge on the mind. Here’s Scott’s introduction, and you can purchase the story via these links: Amazon US, Amazon UK, iTunes.

March’s installment is entitled “The Spear of Destiny,” penned by Marcus Sedgwick (Floodland, My Sword Hand Is Singing). It follows the Third Doctor and Jo Grant in search of the fabled Spear of Odin, only to get caught between warring Viking tribes. You can insert some form of “horny” pun here at your leisure, otherwise you can buy the story: Amazon US, Amazon UK, iTunes. Here’s Marcus:

Finally, this month’s release is “The Roots of Evil,” penned by Philip Reeve (Mortal Engines). The Fourth Doctor and Leela travel to a “tree space station” — hell, I’ll read this just to see what that’s all about — which has, oops, been plotting revenge against the Doctor for centuries. It doesn’t look like Reeve has posted his intro yet, but here are the purchase links: Amazon US, Amazon UK, iTunes.
