We already knew that Amy & Rory would leave Doctor Who this season and that the production was on the lookout for a new companion to pal around with Matt Smith’s Doctor. Now they’ve found her.

The Doctor’s new companion is being played by 25-year-old British actress Jenna Louise Coleman. She’s worked most of her career on British soap operas and dramas. Most recently she appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger as a briefly seen character named “Connie.

Here’s what Jenna looks like…

Watch Jenna talk a little about what it took to get the part of The Doctor’s new companion in the following interview…

According to the official Doctor Who twitter Jenna will first appear on the show during this year’s Christmas episode. They’re only doing 6 Doctor Who episodes this season and it’s in episode 5 that Rory and Amy will leave the show. The official tweets hint that they won’t leave the show alive saying… “Amy & Rory will leave in a final encounter with the Weeping Angels in ep 5. Not everyone gets out alive and I mean it this time.”

Killed by Weeping Angels? That sounds like a bad way to die. Amy and Rory will be missed.
