Should we fear these people or applaud their efforts? With the popularity of AMC’s The Walking Dead and the upcoming romantic comedy Warm Bodies and World War Z starring Brad Pitt, it’s safe to say that zombies are back in pop culture. To capitalize on the wave of popularity the Discovery Channel will be airing a TV special showing what to do during the impending Zombie Apocalypse. Check out the promo below…

The special will follow a teacher, a mother of two, an ex-military firearms instructor, and the founder of the Kansas Anti-Zombie militia, who believe a zombie outbreak will happen in the near future. The special will also feature scientific backing and survivalist testimony of this claim and what to do in case the dead rise from their graves. The question is not if a zombie apocalypse will happen but rather when a zombie apocalypse will happen.

“A zombie pandemic… is something that is plausible, it’s something that at least in terms of spread, is very likely,” alarms Dr. Robert Smith of the department of mathematics at the University of Ottawa. The good doctor continues to say a city the size of New York City could be overrun with zombies in as little as eight days of a single infection.

Hopefully you all have a safety plan and weapon in case the zombie apocalypse does happen. There’s a Home Depot close to my apartment with a double fence surrounding the building. A big box hardware store is ideal during the zombie apocalypse because it’s full of weapons, gas, and emergency rations and bottle water. That’s where I’m going!

Zombie Apocalypse airs Tuesday December 18th at 10pm EST on the Discovery Channel.
