The Director Of Galaxy Quest Is Attached To Bill & Ted 3
After passing their history class, traveling through time to save the princesses, and defeating Death to bring world peace, Bill & Ted are back! The totally awesome creators of Bill & Ted, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, have written a script for a third installment and have attached Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot to helm the upcoming movie. This is totally awesome news, dude!
The movie’s leads, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, both 47, are also attached to take up the roles of Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esq. once more. The new Bill & Ted project would not be a remake or a reboot but a true sequel to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, following a middle-aged Bill & Ted and their families. The movie is reported to be a Hot Tub Time Machine-type comedy.
MGM owns the rights to the Bill & Ted franchise but they are currently shopping it around to other studios to help co-finance and co-distribute the Bill & Ted 3 project. At the moment, Dean Parisot is getting set to direct the sequel to RED, while Solomon and Matheson are finishing up the horror-comedy Rapturepalooza.
It would be interesting to see what happens to Bill & Ted after world peace is declared at the end of their Bogus Journey. A possibility could be that Bill & Ted are going through a mid-life crisis and use the phone-booth time machine to re-live their past glories. If that’s the case then the third movie could be called Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Lives.
