New Defiance Behind-The-Scenes Clips From The SyFy Channel

Next spring, the SyFy Channel is launching an ambitious TV series that will intermingle with a fully functioning MMO (massive multiplayer online). Defiance is not only the title of this ambitious series but the best way to describe what the SyFy Channel is doing against traditional TV series launches.
The third part of the Defiance behind-the-scenes video series goes in-depth with the look and feel of the alien invasion series and how Defiance was created by the same team the brought you Battlestar Galactica. From what it sounds like, Defiance will have elements of Battlestar Galactica that made it successful along with new elements to keep an audience engaged. One highlight of the three-minute video is composer BEAR MCCREAY!!! Here’s “Making of Defiance – Part Three”:
Parts one and two of the making-of feature from the SyFy Channel talked about the concepts, setting, and environment of Defiance. It also described how the TV series and the MMO will interact with each other and how the pair will give an audience a deeper look at the world of Defiance. Although, according to its creators, it’s not necessary to take part in both multimedia platforms to fully enjoy Defiance but it’s highly recommended.
As a non-gamer, I’m intrigued enough with this cross-promotional concept to go online and start exploring this world. I really don’t want to feel like I’m missing out on something by not taking part of the MMO. But either way, Defiance is an exciting TV series and hopefully it will live up to expectations.
Defiance will premiere on the SyFy Channel in April 2013.
