This is a haunting sign of things to come! With the announcement of Disney acquiring LucasFilm, Disneyland released a video that was originally intended as a commercial but which has been re-purposed to highlight what Mickey Mouse will do with one of the scariest and most menacing figures in science fiction. Here’s Darth Vader taking a stroll through the Magic Kingdom.

Nothing says Disney family fun like blowing up the planet Alderaan to show the power of a fully operational battle station! There is something unsettling about Darth Vader riding the Tea Cups, Dumbo, and Space Mountain, but this is what Disney paid for. Although, it is pretty funny to see Darth Vader use the Force to pull King Arthur’s sword out of the anvil stone.

Maybe long-time Star Wars fans will get used to seeing images of Darth Vader and Mickey Mouse prancing together down Main Street, but it just seems like two things that don’t go well together. Maybe Star Wars isn’t for the old guard anymore and we should come to accept the newer vision of our beloved series.

In true Internet style, memes of the LucasFilm acquisition popped up everywhere as soon as it was announced. Some of the best ones include the Death Star in place of the Epcot Center Sphere and Luke Skywalker looking toward the Tatooine desert to see a Mickey Mouse sun in the sky. This acquisition isn’t so bad, it’s not like Disney bought the rights to the Matrix trilogy. Imagine a kid’s ride of the Nebuchadnezzar in Tomorrowland.
