12prevCovDoctor Who has a long history of telling stories of the Doctor and his companions beyond just the show, weaving a broad expanded universe across novels, comics, games, and even audio dramas. We’ve only been following the adventures of Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor who a few episodes now, but he’s about to make his comics debut as well. Titan Publishing, new holders of the Who comics license, debuted ongoing series for the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors earlier this year, and their Twelfth Doctor series is set to release its first issue a week from today. But like the Doctor taught us, why wait around when you can just skip ahead? Check out a synopsis and preview of the first six pages of Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor #1 below, courtesy of Comic Book Resources!

Freshly regenerated and with a new head full of unanswered questions, the Doctor (as played by Peter Capaldi) whisks Clara Oswald (as played by Jenna Coleman) away to a strange and distant world.

Clara thought she was in for an evening of marking essays on the Metaphysical Poets, followed by going out on a date — or at least trying to. You know, normal stuff.

Instead, she’s facing down exotic flora and fauna in her best dress, backing up the Doctor on a trek through traumatically alien undergrowth — and she doesn’t even know what the Doctor is searching for, or what will try to kill them should they find it!
