BillTedEven a quarter century after the original movie came out, and nearly as long since the sequel, people are still talking about a third Bill & Ted movie. It’s one of those projects, like a third Ghostbusters, that seems to be perpetually dwelling on the horizon of potentiality, but never actually drawing any closer. Well, the Ghostbusters franchise finally found its way forward as a female-led reboot, so perhaps Bill & Ted just needs to come at things from a different angle. We may not live to see Bill & Ted 3 — at least not without a time machine — but Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan will be embarking on new adventures…on the comics page!

Comic publisher Boom! Studios hinted at a Bill & Ted series yesterday on Twitter, although they haven’t provided any concrete information about the project yet. Boom! editor Ian Brill posted the teaser as part of a Twitter thread about comics based on pre-existing licenses. That’s something Boom! knows a thing or two about, with a catalog that includes comic series based on Planet of the Apes, Star Trek, Farscape, RoboCop, and, beginning this week, Escape from New York. Here is the Twitter thread in question, leading up a teaser image referencing Bill & Ted’s world-changing rock band.
