Fans of Star Wars: The Clone Wars got an awesome gift last Friday as the full run of the show premiered on Netflix Instant…including the previously unaired sixth season. After the show was canceled in the aftermath of the Disney/Star Wars buyout, for a while there it looked like we would never see that material outside of a hypothetical future DVD release. Thankfully Disney and Netflix — already allegedly talking about the possibility of collaborating on future Star Wars shows — came to an agreement, and so now we’ve got season six available with the press of a button, and collectively dubbed “The Lost Missions.” With The Clone Wars finally getting a proper sendoff, director Dave Filoni send a big thank you to the fans, in the form of a bunch of concept art from the series.

In his post on the official Star Wars blog, Filoni said:

While we weren’t able to tell every story in the Clone Wars era, there is plenty to look forward to. Every day there are amazing new Star Wars stories being developed here at Lucasfilm. I guess my intention here is to encourage you all to dream, to imagine, not just what these stories might have been, but what the possibilities are for other new stories which have never been told before. And maybe the person who tells those stories will be you. I hope you have enjoyed what was, and what yet might be, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

He also explains that he sketched up the art during one of the show’s last writers’ conferences. He also leaves them intentionally free of context, inviting fans to speculate about what they’re seeing. He does, however, reveal one specific spoiler, which we’re sticking down at the very bottom of this article.

Filoni, along with much of the Clone Wars crew, has moved over to work on the upcoming animated series Star Wars: Rebels, which is due to premiere later this year on Disney XD.
