Admiral AckbarHold onto your hats, nerds, because San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner. Over the years the gathering has evolved to encompass everything geek, from movies to toys to science fiction. As usual, there will be all manner of exclusive merchandise for convention attendees to get their grubby little mitts on, including this new bust of Admiral Ackbar from Return of the Jedi. And really, isn’t a statue of a Mon Calamari rebel leader the one thing your home is missing?

Toy manufacturer Gentle Giant will release the busts, which also go by the name “Magnitude” for some reason, at SDCC 2013. Based on artwork by Steven Daily, the busts stand eight inches tall, and arrive in a screen-printed wooden box. Limited to only 500, they’ll also include a certificate of authenticity — wouldn’t want people to think you buy bootleg toys, now would you? — and a limited edition lithograph, just for good measure.

Considering the venue, and the restricted number of units, you better believe that this piece of memorabilia will set you back a few shekels. Bring your credit cards and get ready to fork over $175. But isn’t that a small price to pay to show your devotion the Admiral?

The four-day Comic-Con runs kicks off on July 18 and runs through July 21, but there are tons of pre-parties, after-parties, all manner of shindigs to attend. That is, if you were lucky enough to get one of the tickets that seem to evaporate the very second they’re released every year.
