Star Trek Into Darkness Alice Eve
Practically everyone on Star Trek Into Darkenss call sheet got their very own character poster, so now Paramount delivered yet another one for franchise newcomer—at least as far as J.J. Abrams’ reboot is concerned—Carol Marcus, played by Alice Eve.

I’m actually a little bit impressed that the photo they chose for this poster isn’t that shot of Eve in her underwear. Seriously, the marketing team likes cramming that footage into every spot they can, whether it makes sense or not.

Marcus is a Federation doctor, a molecular biologist to be precise. In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan we learned that she and Captain James Tiberius Kirk, known lothario that he is, got together, and their relationship resulted in a son, David. We’ve all figured that the addition of Eve to the cast is to provide a love interest for Kirk, but this begs the question, is Kirk going to knock Marcus up? That could set up the third Star Trek as something completely different. Maybe they’ll trade in deep space heroics for domestic adventures in child rearing. That would be a twist no one would see coming.

Star Trek Into Darkness revolves around the manhunt for a one man wrecking crew named John Harrison, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who may or may not be Kirk’s iconic nemesis Khan Noonien Singh. Reports on the subject have been varied.

Whoever Harrison is or isn’t, he’s one grim, badass dude, and the crew of the Enterprise is in for a rough, rough time. That might be a perfect time for some holy-shit-we’re-about-to-die boot knockin’ for Kirk and Marcus.

Star Trek Into Darkness also stars Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, and Peter Weller. Early reviews have been positive, and we’ll finally be able to see what the fuss is all about in a couple of weeks on May 17.
