Recently, Finnish mobile game developer Rovio and LucasArts have been enjoying the good fortune that Angry Birds Star Wars had given them. The game has only been out for about a month and it immediately became the most sought after mobile game in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, respectively. Now to celebrate its one month of success, Rovio released new levels that mirror The Empire Strikes Back in Angry Birds Star Wars – Episode V: Hoth.

The new add-on levels are completely free once you’ve unlocked each level in the Episode IV: A New Hope levels. In Episode V: Hoth, you play on the ice planet Hoth against AT-AT evil pigs and in space against Star Destroyers. Angry Birds Star Wars – Episode V: Hoth also unlocks a new character to play, the Angry Bird version of Princess Leia. Rovio and LucasArts released two new trailers for Episode V: Hoth; one that promotes the levels and the other that promotes the gameplay. Watch both trailers below…

At this point, Angry Birds Star Wars is very addicting as its players are itching for more levels and characters. If this trend continues, Rovio and LucasArts will release an Episode VI: Moon of Endor levels in the near future to unlock. Perhaps next year, Rovio and LucasArts will release a prequel version of Angry Birds Star Wars featuring Anakin Skywalker and Jar-Jar Binks. Of course, it will be a more annoying and watered down version of the original.

The people who brought together Rovio and LucasArts should get huge holiday bonuses this season because these two properties together should make millions for each company. Maybe Rovio and Marvel should get together to make an Angry Birds The Avengers edition so they’ll be more of these mobile games.

Angry Birds Star Wars – Episode V: Hoth is available now for iOS devices, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, and Windows Phone and Windows 8.
