The Machine

A dark and stylish sci-fi thriller with clear nods to Blade Runner about a conflicted scientific genius trying to make the perfect female android, while being funded by a secret government military program.

Not to be confused with Ex Machina, the directorial debut of Sunshine/Dredd writer Alex Garland. If you’re a fan of The CW’s Arrow, you already know how convincingly badass Caity Lotz can be, so the fact that she plays the android in question should be reason enough for you to give The Machine a chance. But it’s also surprisingly well reviewed for this sort of flick, sitting at a more-than-solid 79% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Even better, you can watch it free on Netflix. (Or, you guessed it, rent/purchase from Amazon or iTunes.)
