The 100Multiple Stories: The way season 1 left things, the core group of kids is split up, there are fresh arrivals on Earth, and new forces in play. Rothenberg adds that all of these various threads are going to be intertwined, and that we can expect collisions galore.

The reunions may not be happy: Though there characters from various storylines will reunite, they may not all be happy. For instance, Clark and her mother may not recognize each other when they finally come fact to face. Taylor says, “[T]here’s a lot of tension there, but also they’ve both changed so much individually. It will be interesting to see if they recognize one another because they’ve just been through so much.”

Different Societies: Moving forward, we’re really going to get to know the various parties involved, to see what makes them tick, including the Grounders. According to Devon Bostick, who plays Jasper, “We’re going to explore how they all relate and who stands where…What’s really going on here. What do the mountain men do? What are the Grounders all about? Who are they?”

And that’s not all. Marie Avgeropoulos, who plays Octavia, hinted that we could meet even more groups that have remained hidden up to this point. She says, “You’re going to meet a whole new group of people that survived, or not, the radiation and the effects of the nuclear apocalypse.”

There’s more going on than you thought: Through Octavia and Lincoln’s (Ricky Whittle) romance, we’ll get to see life and the conflict from a Grounder perspective. Whittle says, “We’re going to see the Grounders through Lincoln’s eyes and through Octavia’s eyes…And that’s going to help us get into the world and help the audience learn more about this culture. We aren’t necessarily evil, we aren’t necessarily bad as Grounders. As in any society, you have good people and you have bad. You have people who want will peace and people who won’t want peace.”

There is also going to more with the “Boat People” and “Mountain Men.” It was hinted at, but the 100 have apparently landed themselves smack in the middle of a larger, ongoing war, and we’ll see how all of that plays out.

Octavia goes native: Given the relationship with Lincoln, this isn’t a surprise, but Avgeropoulos says. “You’re going to see what the real Grounders have to say about that, and if and when they accept her with open arms or not. And her people are going to have opinions about her doing that as well.”

History: Rothenberg says we can expect a flashback of the creation of the ark, but because it is such an expensive, special effects heavy endeavor that he’s not sure when we might actually see it.

Throughout season one, we got glimpses into the pasts of some characters and a look a their lives on the Ark, and that will continue. Rothenberg also says that we’ll get to peer into the Murphy’s (Richard Harmon) story, and it could uncover some startling things. “There are certain people like Murphy who I feel on some level was undeserved as a character last year. Who was just purely a douche bag and this year, we’re going to start to peel the layers and understand him and figure out that there’s a reason why he is the way he is. And maybe some people, when they hear that story — not a flashback — will sympathize. They can never trust him, but maybe they can understand him. That’s the goal.”
