Jeri Ryan has hinted we will have Star Trek: Voyager reunion with Tuvok in the tenth episode of Picard.

The Star Trek spinoff Picard has done an awesome job of bringing back characters from The Next Generation, including (somewhat inexplicably) the android Data. The show has also prominently featured Voyager character Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), and in this recent season, we briefly saw fan-favorite Vulcan character Tuvok, played by Tim Russ. Fans were disappointed that this wasn’t the “real” Tuvok, but according to Digital Fix, Jeri Ryan confirmed she’ll reunite with her fellow Star Trek: Voyager actor for at least one shared scene: “There might be another scene, perhaps, that you might see the two of them together…we will see him in Episode 10.”

Part of what makes Jeri Ryan’s casual announcement so important to fans is that, so far, this looks like the closest thing to a Star Trek: Voyager reunion we will get. Previously, we have seen Kate Mulgrew’s Janeway character pop up in everything from Star Trek: Nemesis to Star Trek: Prodigy, but we haven’t seen her get to interact with any of her Voyager crewmates with the exception of Robert Beltran’s Chakotay in animated form.

And despite the clear love that fans have for this particular Star Trek show, it hasn’t gotten either the behind-the-scenes treatment that Deep Space Nine received with the What We Leave Behind documentary or the onscreen revival treatment that TNG received with Star Trek: Picard.

Here’s some good news, though: even though Jeri Ryan didn’t bring it up in the interview, we previously and exclusively reported that Paramount is currently hard at work putting together a Star Trek: Voyager reunion show. While details around such a revival series remain scant, it would presumably be much like Picard, with the series revolving around Kate Mulgrew’s Janeway character and plot developments that effectively force her to reunite with her old crewmates in order to save the day.

Mulgrew herself seemed very happy to return to Star Trek for Prodigy, and was one of the best parts of the Netflix show Orange Is the New Black, so we’d love to see what an older Janeway might be like without the constraints of network television holding her back.

It helps that Jeri Ryan isn’t the only member of the Star Trek: Voyager cast who is happy to return to the franchise. In addition to Kate Mulgrew and Robert Beltran returning for Prodigy and Jeri Ryan and Tim Russ returning for Picard, Robert Duncan McNeill returned for Lower Decks to voice his character Tom Paris. In short, the fans want to see more Voyager characters, and the Voyager actors want more Star Trek screen time, so this seems like a clear case of supply and demand.

In the meantime, we can only hope that Jeri Ryan gets to meet more of the Star Trek: Voyager cast than Tim Russ in the final episode of Star Trek: Picard. It would be fun to get updates about other characters, including Klingon engineer B’Elanna Torres or even the young Naomi Wildman. If nothing else, we’d love to see Harry Kim so fans can have an answer to the age-old question: did this poor ensign finally get a damn promotion after all these years?
