There are so many issues plaguing NASA today it isn't funny. The ISS was
completed several years late, the shuttle decommissioned long before its
replacement (the Ares) was even beyond testing, paying the russians to send our
own astronauts up the station that we are responsible for putting up there in
the first place, the list goes on and on.

Don't get me wrong, NASA has opened our eyes to the greater universe over the
last decades, but they are biting off more than they can chew by even THINKING
about getting to mars. They need to take baby steps to accomplish that task, and
the first step is to first complete the Ares rocket (the light AND heavy lift
versions) and the Orion capsule before thinking about anything else. The rover
missions can wait until we are actually ready to send someone there.

Tired of Mars, the space community is way too fixated on it. We spend billions of dollars basically sending the exact same mission there over and over with upgraded equipment. No real efforts have been made to test colonization technologies or prepare for anything long term. NASA should be spending more money on missions to Enceladus and Europa, the two places in our solar system that have a slight possibility of hosting LIVING alien life instead of dumping garbage on Mars every time the agency needs a flagship mission to promote.
