mastering weapons in space is extremely important to future altercations with alien forces (not all aliens with be friendly!), dealing with incoming asteroids, &defending ourselves from other nations attacking us. That said, equally vital is the mastery of force fields!! Even our engine technology is pathetic for space travel, we have the whole horizon to work on before we can feel safe or powerful. As far as doom & gloom, if humans are bent on killing each other, space weapons are not going to be a mandatory requirement. In all honesty the fact that these endangered communist countries & dictators have not yet built a space program to go claim other planets is bizarre. If China or Iran went & defended Mars, the USA would be hard pressed to stop them anytime soon.

people people!! we cant expect nothing from nasa so al this manned mission to mars was rubbish in fifties and rubbish now. cos people in control of world only wants to fuel war, cos war makes money. this does means that weapons like nukes r already there so there telling us so that we can go ‘oh we have to get rid of them! help us obama’ cos they want us all dependant on them. like native americans said ‘DONT TRUST THE GOVERMENT!!’

Weapons in space have been discussed openly since the end of WW2. There was even a proposal for a “UN Space Force” to keep the peace all over the world, launched from orbital stations.

seriously though they actualy are working on a different sort of space shuttle program now nasa is proly gona get turned into more of a theory based thing for now, its not terrible really i think we should all just ignore the space weapons an focus on space travel, which means improving how we utilize resources like food an water an energey production how practical :/ alhtough space flight would be sorta cool
