Redband Storage 24 Trailer Is Proud Of Its Gore

“A group of friends get trapped inside a storage facility and have to try and figure how to get out.” If the idea for Storage 24 stopped there, you’d have the makings of a particularly irritating way to spend your afternoon, or maybe a semi-memorable episode of Friends. Thankfully Storage 24 doesn’t stop there, but instead throws a vicious alien beastie into the mix who is eager to discover all the different ways you can disassemble an attractive cast of young British actors.

Sure, the “trapped in a contained area with something horrible” story has been told a thousand different ways since Alien, but people do still occasionally find a way to put a fresh spin on it. Whether Storage 24 succeeds at that goal remains to be seen, but at the very least the redband trailer showcases some enjoyably icky gore. You’d think Mickey from Doctor Who would be used to this sort of thing by now…

How Glen Mazzara Changed The Walking Dead For The Better

walkingdead

Many have noticed a giant shift in quality between season two and season three of The Walking Dead. It may have something to do with a change in the creative team behind the widely popular AMC zombie series. The original showrunner and series developer, Frank Darabont, left the series early in season two, leaving the show fumbling for a while as it tried to find its footing. Result: way, way too much time twiddling thumbs on Hershel’s farm. Darabont was replaced by The Shield veteran Glen Mazzara, who wanted to take a different approach to The Walking Dead.

In an interview with THR, Mazzara talked about the problems of The Walking Dead when AMC brought him on as showrunner and how he wanted to move the narrative and give audiences something more than a series of people killing zombies. Mazzara says:

As soon as I became showrunner, I felt our horror element demanded this style of accelerated storytelling. If you have a good twist, move it up instead of saving it and building to it. Throw it at the audience when they—and the characters—least expect it.

Most shows experiencing this success wouldn’t be trying as hard as we are—trying new things, adding major characters and new storylines and altering the kind of stories we tell. It makes people say, ‘This isn’t people killing zombies every week.’

Revised Star Trek Into Darkness Synopsis Makes Some Changes

Cumberbatch

Of all the Star Trek Into Darkness material we’ve seen so far, the official synopsis has been one of the most useful for trying to determine who Cumberbatch’s villain is, or at least what sort of character he is. Now a revised version of the official synopsis has been released, and while the changes may be largely for the sake of streamlining, it’s still worth noting the differences. Here’s the new version:

In Summer 2013, director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
