Warner Brothers is planning to remake what is, without a doubt, the most underrated fantasy movie of the 80s. They've reopened The Neverending Story.
The project is still in early stages according to HR, they've only acquired the rights, so there's still hope that good sense will prevail and this will die on the vine. But The Neverending Story is a product of a specific time. It exists in that strange 80s world of terrifying puppet monsters and wonderfully cheesy electronic music. I love it... and it should stay there. Modernizing it, as any remake most assuredly must, will only ruin it.
We'll keep you apprised as this horrifyingly awful project develops... or gets swallowed by the Nothing (we hope).
