They've taken their time about it, but Green Lantern is finally coming to the big screen. Of the superhero franchises we've had so far, it's easily the most science fiction oriented. Our hero gets his super powers straight from aliens after all. It's kind of like The Greatest American Hero, except not funny and without the all at once cool/lame/horrible/awesome themesong.
Wielding the ring of power will be Ryan Reynolds. He's playing Hal Jordan/Green Lantern. Here's the story from THR.
After an intense months-long search, Warner Bros. has settled on Ryan Reynolds as its choice to play “Green Lantern,” the studio’s live-action tentpole based on the DC Comics hero. The film is being directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti. Reynolds and his camp entered negotiations for the part Friday, after the studio held two rounds of screen tests, along with actors Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto. Justin Timberlake also did a screen test.
