While James Cameron settled for generic machine guns in his sci-fi fantasy Avatar, Neill Blomkamp kicked things up a notch earlier in 2009 in District 9, by arming his aliens with a wildly creative assortment of badass weaponry, of the type never seen before on film. And while Avatar may be the number one sci-fi movie of all time, if you're out to kill alien bad guys, you're probably better off arming yourself with District 9's Gas Projector than you are whipping out Col. Quartich's comically oversized hunting knife.
In fact, not only is it perferable it's now possible. The folks at the WETA effects house are selling lifelike replicas of some of District 9's coolest weapons. A Gas Projector will run you $710 New Zealand dollars, which I assume is the American equivalent of three fully-grown sheep. They're also selling the Arc Generator. You'll need them both if you want to lead your household cockroaches to freedom.
PLEASE NOTE: Unless your genetic makeup is part prawn, you cannot power up or fire these guns.
