You may not even know her name, but quietly, Alice Braga has worked her way into becoming the new reigning queen of science fiction. The 27-year-old Brazilian actress got her start in critically acclaimed indie movies like 2002’s City of God, but in recent years she’s jumped head first almost entirely into big-budget, hard science fiction.
In 2007 she played the vampire survivor Anna opposite Will Smith in I Am Legend. In 2008 she had a small role in the high-concept sci-fi movie Blindness. In 2010 she played a pivotal role in the organ stealing Jude Law future movie Repo Men. And now this summer, she’ll push her badass abilities to the limit as a deadly assassin in the Robert Rodriguez produced Predators sequel. Clearly, she has a thing for aliens, and that makes this the perfect time to examine her body of work.
