12 Flight Of The Navigator Getting The Remake TreatmentThe unthinkable has happened. Disney is remaking Flight of the Navigator, a seminal, untouchable film for anyone who was a kid in the 80s. After the limp, lame mess they made of Witch Mountain earlier this year, there's no reason to believe they'll do anything other than utterly destroy all our happy memories of Navigator with the reboot.

Here's how THR describes the remake effort:

Brad Copeland is writing the remake, which is being produced by Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. John Hyde, who executive produced the first one, steps into the same role for the new version.
