avatar on pandoraAny day now Avatar will pass Titanic to become the biggest movie of all time. That makes Avatar 2 the most eagerly anticipated sequel of all time so, from here on out, we'll be hanging on every word out of James Cameron's mouth.

He spoke with E! today on the subject of where he's taking the franchise next, and while much of what he said wasn't new, he did drop one very important hint. What's up? it doesn't sound like the sequel will leave Pandora.

There had been speculation that the follow-up might send our heroes to a new planet or even to multiple planets, but Cameron seems pretty set on staying where they're at. He says, "We're going to spend a lot of money building this world and all these digital characters and digital plants and trees and mountains and so on, and then once we've got it, we've got it. It's not like it's a practical set that when you build it, you have to tear it down and you're left with a big pile of lumber out behind the studio. We have all that stuff so we can go again."

Short version of that quote is this: He wants to reuse his trees. Why go somewhere else when he's already spent so much time and money building Pandora? Makes sense to me.
